Tutor Positions

Casual role

Gateway Academy is always interested in recruiting teachers and senior student-teachers who are dedicated to making a positive difference for their students. We look for individuals with proven abilities in teaching, interpersonal and inspirational personalities, as well as the capability to differentiate and work with students with varying academic abilities.

We are a resource sharing community, which means our members often share teaching materials to strengthen one-another’s pedagogical practice. Be prepared to upload lessons taught at Gateway and to receive constructive commentary, as well as to give feedback and to learn from the work of others.

Roles and Responsibilities:                     

  • Teaching relevant subject material to secondary students

  • Marking homework and providing detailed feedback

  • Preparing lessons as per students’ needs

  • Sharing lesson material and collaborating with team members

Requirements:

  • Having completed / studying a degree in secondary education plus relevant teaching area at the third year level of beyond

  • Evidence of teaching experience (practical reports, sample lesson plans, experience teaching at an Australian high school - NSW preferred)

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Reasonable degree of customer service skills

  • A valid paid WWC number

Community Tutor

Volunteer role

The Gateway team is developing a volunteer program where we hold free academic workshops and homework-help sessions at schools and public libraries. With this, we aim to assist students to reach their academic potential, regardless of their personal circumstances. If you are interested in participating in these programs, please contact us.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching relevant subject material to secondary students

  • Providing homework help and feedback to support students

 

Requirements:

  • Having completed / studying a degree in secondary education plus relevant teaching area

  • Teaching experience would be preferable

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • A valid volunteer / paid WWC number
